SEASON PREVIEW The Covington Lady Buccs have high expectations in 2024 due to returning a seven varsity players from a year ago where the team compiled a 12-12 overall record and a 10-4 record in the TRC.
Returning to the varsity lineup are seniors Taylor Kirker and Mazelle Reck, along with juniors Dakohta Kenworthy, Hollan Koffer, Nell Rogers, Addison Ventura and sophomore Ramse Vanderhorst.
Also within the varsity lineup are a talented group of sophomores; Ava Hartwig, Kylie Palsgrove, Alison Sink, Aleah Russell, Nadia Ramirez and Cassidy Iddings. Iddings is battling through an injury she suffered in softball this past spring, but her toughness and determination is evident due to her recovery effort.
Covington also has a new coaching staff with head coach Stephanie Robinson, who coached at Covington in the early to late 2000s. The assistant coaches are Stacie Studebaker and Destina Wills.
The Lady Buccs have a schedule in place with stiff competition within the TRC and in non-conference games. Non-Conference competition consists of Anna, Brookville, Jackson Center, Russia and Bradford – plus a quad tournament at New Bremen.
In the TRC, Miami East and Lehman are the teams that shared a league title a year ago. Bethel and Milton-Union are also stiff challenges as well.
