CASSTOWN — For the second time this year, the Covington Lady Buccs played well in several parts of the match but were unable to pull out a victory due to Miami East’s talent.

In the first set, the Lady Buccs started off impressively and built a 19-14 lead. Unfortunately, Miami East was able to take advantage of some mistakes by Covington to score seven straight points. The momentum carried Miami East through the remainder of the first set for a 25-22 victory.

Once again, the Lady Buccs opened up an early lead in the second set and eventually built a 19-16 advantage. The Lady Vikings then scored four straight points to reclaim the momentum and followed by closing out a 25-21 victory to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

Miami East’s momentum carried over into the third and final set as Covington fell 25-14.

“We had the lead in both one and two sets and were pushed by a really physical Miami East team,” explained Covington coach Sloane Green. “Always a tough environment for our team to go into and we had a good fight!”

Kylie Palsgrove accumulated eight digs and seven kills, while Ramsé Vanderhorst had 14 digs. Ava Hartwig and Nadia Ramirez recorded seven digs each.

The Lady Buccs are now 8-8 overall and 4-5 in the TRC, with a home match scheduled for Thursday against Troy Christian.
