BRANDT – The Covington Lady Buccs are continuing to show improvement down the stretch of the regular season as they defeated Bethel in five sets.

The scores were 14-25, 25-14, 25-23, 31-33 and 15-13. Covington won sets two, three and five.

The Lady Buccs came up short against Bethel earlier in the season. This marks the second time Covington has defeated a team it lost to earlier in the year, previously accomplishing the feat against Troy Christian five days ago.

What made this victory so impressive was how all of the players on the team had an impact.

“Kylie (Palsgrove) really stepped it up, and we needed her in clutch moments,” stated Covington coach Sloane Green. “Our middles, Madelyn Batdorf and Chloe Aselage, did a great job slowing down Bethel’s attack. It was a really fun match to coach, and I am proud of the way the team stayed poised and gave great effort until the end. Also, Mikayla Jacomet played well. She had to sit out the fifth set due to reaching the maximum number of sets allowed for the night because she played two sets in the JV match. So, Cassidy Iddings came in during the fifth set and played well when needed.”

Statistically, Ava Hartwig had 11 kills and 11 digs, Kylie Palsgrove recorded 11 kills and 12 digs, and Ramsé Vanderhorst had 30 digs.

The junior varsity team also won in three sets.

The Lady Buccs have won six of their past nine matches to improve their overall record to 10-9. They are now 6-5 in the TRC with three more league matches remaining.

Next for Covington is a home match against Northridge on Monday, October 12.
