DECEMBER 8, 2024 – PIQUA It was a “special” day at No Name Athletics Saturday as Co-owners A.J. Ouellette and Brandon Wirrig hosted the No Name Athletics Special Needs powerlifting competition, with approximately 40 lifters competing.
CAEL VANDERHORST EARNS ELITE 90 AWARD AT NCAA D-III WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIPS
MARCH 16, 2025 – PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND Cael Vanderhorst, a 2021 Covington graduate and a senior at Ohio Northern University, was awarded a prestigious honor at the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships on Saturday.
MARCH 9, 2025 – COLUMBUS The 2025 OHSAA Division III State Wrestling Tournament at the Jerome Schottenstein Center in Columbus was a great weekend for the Covington Buccaneers because junior Caleb Ryman became the 19th state placer in the history of the program and sophomore Trenton Havenar made it into the second day of the tournament in his first year as a high school wrestler.
THE VANDERHORST BROTHERS EARNED SCHOLAR ALL-AMERICAN HONORS
MARCH 3, 2025 – DANVILLE, VA Cael and Chase Vanderhorst, two brothers who graduated at Covington High School and wrestle now at Ohio Northern University, both earned an elite honor as Scholar All-Americans after finishing in the top-six of their weight classes in the Division III Region IV tournament and recording 4.0 GPAs academically.
MARCH 1, 2025 – TROY A great weekend for the Covington Buccaneers was capped by two wrestlers, Caleb Ryman and Trenton Havenar, qualifying for state and one more, Brody Taylor, finishing as a state alternate. Plus, the Buccaneers finished eighth out of 64 teams with 60 points.
FEBRUARY 25, 2025 – TROY Covington had two close losses to Troy Christian earlier in the season, but the Eagles’ effort and intensity led to a huge loss for the Buccaneers, 44-25.
