COVINGTON – The Covington Lady Buccs captured their second straight win with an impressive victory over Milton-Union in three sets.
The scores for each set that showcased Covington’s enjoyable evening were 25-10, 25-12 and 25-11.
“We have been working hard at staying consistent in all areas of the game,” explained Covington’s coach Sloane Green. “The last two matches, it has been good to see us focused on our side of the net and taking care of the details we have been working on in practice.”
Practice has been critical for the Lady Buccs as they all hope to progress throughout the rest of the season.
Progression at this point of the season was evident due to some of the stats in the victory over Milton-Union as Ramsé Vanderhorst accumulated 15 digs, while Nadia Ramirez had 8 digs and 3 aces. Plus, Ava Hartwig pounded out 13 kills and a talented sophomore Madelyn Batdorf recorded 5 kills and 4 blocks.
One of the most excited highlights in the match was when senior Mary Larson came in late and got 2 critical digs within the last 5 points to finish the game. This is Larson’s first year as a high school volleyball player after performing well in cross country previously.
Covington evened up the overall record at 6-6 and is now 3-4 in the TRC. Next is a non-league contest at Graham on September 21st.
