SEASON PREVIEW: The Covington Buccaneers have the talent to potentially excel at the same level the team compiled one year ago that led to a 14-11 record and a district final.
The Buccaneers will have to find a way to replace six very good players who graduate a year ago, but there are several returning varsity players and outstanding players who excelled last year at the junior varsity level.
The first key player returning is the lone senior Caleb Smith, a player who provides leadership to the roster due to his experience. His attitude and mentality will hopefully help build the foundation of competitive desire for the entire roster.
The other additional key players returning to the varsity level are five juniors and three sophomores. The junior standouts who are returning are Tyler Palsgrove, Brairen Denson, Caiden Hollingsworth, Colton Goins and Talon Pergram, while the three sophomores who had a huge impact at the varsity level a year ago are Hunter McMillion, Finn Rogers and Christian Skaggs.
The key players who advanced from the junior varsity squad that put in a quality season last year are juniors James Kuether and Philip Swabb, along with sophomore Gunner Uderman.
The Buccaneers have a competitive schedule in place throughout the entire regular season, which hopefully leads the team into ideal situations heading into the post-season tournament.
