SEASON PREVIEW
The Covington Buccaneers have 34 athletes in Track & Field this season with six of them as seniors; Jacob Belmaggio, Christian Clark, Day’Lynn Garrett, Will Hand, James MacDonald and Zaq Steele. All six will provide leadership and intensity for the entire program.
Last year the Buccaneers finished fourth in the TRC and had two athletes who excelled at state – Preston King and Day’Lynn Garrett. Preston King, who graduated in 2025, placed third at state in the high jump with a program record of 6’8”, while Day’Lynn Garrett placed seventh in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.85 and qualified in the long jump. Day’Lynn also placed sixth at state in 2024 in the 300 meter hurdles and holds the program records in the 110 meter hurdles (14.71) and the long jump (21’4.5”).
There are 11 juniors on the team who will also help the program have success; Landon Beeman, Elijah Brooks, Eddison Deaton, Jackson Hollis, Brock Lyons, Filip McMaken, Jordan Miller, Landon Reynolds, Trent Reynolds, Caiden Walters and Wyatt Schaefer.
Ten more are sophomores; Drake Angle, Matthew Brown, Caylor Eastman, Sam Godin, Gibson Leach, Zaiden Maroney, Wyatt Pierce, Rider Robbins, Cody Rohr, and Jackson White, while there are seven freshmen in the program; Ryan Brown, Isaac Hartwig, Wyatt Kerber, Dylan Laub, Robert Perryman, Cutler Robbins and Kaiden Yamada.
With the outstanding amount of athletes on the team, the Buccaneers have the potential to put together a another successful season in 2026.
