COVINGTON TRACK COMPETES IN VERSAILLES INVITATIONAL

VERSAILLES – Covington’s high school boys and girls athletes competed at the Versailles Invitational on Saturday and the boys finished 5th with 69 points and the girls finished 7th with 42.5 points.

The highlight of the day was the performance by senior Day’Lynn Garrett as he won all three individual events he competed in. He started off with a victory in the 110 meter hurdles in the time of 15.44 and then won the 300 meter hurdles in the time of 40.90. He then won the long jump in the distance of 19’8″.

Day’Lynn also competed in the 4×200 meter relay with teammates Trent Reynolds, Caylor Eastman and Rider Robbins and they finished second with the time of 1:37.79.

The boys track team also compiled track team points in ten more events by finishing fourth once, fifth three times, sixth twice, seventh twice and eighth twice.

The highlight for the girls was the performance of freshman Alice Larson as she finished third place in the 3200 meter run in the time of 13:00.92. The ladies also earned team points by finishing fourth place twice, fifth place five times, sixth place once and seventh place twice.

The next track meet is scheduled at Milton-Union next Tuesday.
