SEASON PREVIEW
The Buccaneers return a talented group of runners, as well as some strong newcomers.
The top seven runners are returning from last year’s team that finished league champions and placed sixth at regionals.
Senior, Asher Long, was the TRC runner of the year, District Champion, Regional Champion, and finished all Ohio at the state meet, will lead the way once again for the Buccaneers. Also returning is Junior and fellow all-league runner Beck Wilson.
Juniors Calub Hembree, Tanner Palsgrove, Chris Deaton, Preston King, and Sophomore Caleb Ryman, all return from last year’s top seven. Returning runners looking to make their way into the top seven this year include, Junior Noah Chaney, Avery Gooding, Wyatt Parker, Sophomores Brock Gessner, Will Hand, and Zaq Steele. Runners new to the team this year that are looking to make an impact are Seniors Grant Blore, Austin Monnin, Freshman Landon Beeman, Henry Cantrell, Edison Deaton, Evan Moore, Talon Pergram, Landon Reynolds, Henry Skaggs, and Kent Welborn.
“We have a solid group returning and we have some young runners that are going to challenge for a varsity spot, which will make everyone better in the end,” said Covington coach Josh Long. “Our league will be competitive this year, but if we work hard and stay healthy we could be in the mix for our fourth straight league title.”
