The renovation project, managed by Level MB, will consist of the replacement of the track surface, the building of a new entry gate, design and construction of a new press box, updating the concession stand and replacing the locker room roof. Plus, there will be site upgrades consisting of concrete sidewalks throughout the stadium, as well as new black coated fencing that will be placed around the track and around the outside part of the stadium.
During the event, legendary athlete and coach Dave Tobias described the history and tradition of Smith Field. Plus, Josh Long, the elementary principal and coach in track and cross country, explained the upgrade that will happen in the track and athletic director Ashley Naff explained the progression of what the new entry gate and the new press box will be.
