
COVINGTON – Three seniors on the Lady Buccs’ basketball team had a memorable evening as they were honored by their coaches, teammates and fans before the game started and then Covington cruised to a 48-30 victory over Lehman Catholic.
The three senior, Delaney Murphy, Avery Koffer and Hollan Koffer, played well by leading the team with effort and team-first mentality. It showed early as the Lady Buccs built a comfortable 20-4 lead at the end of the first period and a 35-10 lead at break
Despite the score, Lehman continued to battle hard in the second half by outscoring the Lady Buccs 20-13 in the final two frames.
Overall, the biggest impact on the game was the defensive pressure implemented by the Lady Buccs. Offensively, the Lady Buccs played well with time consuming possessions, eliminating several turnovers and made so many great passes throughout the game. The only unfortunate situations were several wide open shots that were missed.
Throughout the game Covington’s entire roster had opportunities to showcase their talent on the floor.
Stevi Newhouse led the Lady Buccs with a game-high 15 points performance and Bella Batdorf scored 14 points. Eight players for Covington were able to score points.
Covington is now 7-11 overall and 4-9 in the TRC with a non-conference home game against Jackson Center is scheduled for Saturday at Noon.
