TROY – The Buccaneers continue to improve, but Troy Christian was able to take advantage of situations to hand Covington a 69-43 loss.

“Didn’t do a bad job in the first half, but they did hit fifteen threes,” explained coach Logan Carey. “If we disrupt the passing lanes and take away those straight line passes that doesn’t happen. Against a team like that, they’ll just pick you apart if you don’t do some of those little things and that’s what happened tonight. We’ve improved from the last time, but we’ve still got some little things to tidy up to compete with the upper echelon of the conference. We’re getting closer every day.”

The Buccaneers trailed 26-19 at the break and then 45-34 heading into the final frame, but the game went out of reach in the fourth period as Troy Christian outscored Covington 24-9. In that timeframe the Eagles knocked down six three-pointers to close out 15 of them throughout the game. The key player for Troy Christian was Brennan Hochwait as he made nine treys and closed out the game with 31 points.

For Covington, Brairen Denson led the team with 13 points, while Brant Angle scored 12 points.

The Buccs are now 2-13 overall and 2-7 in the TRC with a home game against Bethel scheduled for Friday
