COVINGTON – Covington hosted a traditional invitational for Track & Field on Friday and what made the event so memorable was how the athletic department honored a legendary Buccaneer coach Ron Schultz.
Ron Schultz, who passed away on Friday, November 14th this past year, had a huge impact in Covington as an amazing coach in several sports and as an outstanding teacher. One of his biggest impact in sports was in Track & Field throughout 51 years as he led so many Buccaneer athletes to accomplish a lot of success at the state meet. He also helped so many students turn themselves into positive situations once they graduated at Covington.
What also made the event special was how Covington honored the nine seniors – Kassidy Turner, Dakohta Kenworthy, Bella Welch, Christian Clark, Day’Lynn Garrett, Will Hand, Zaq Steele, Jacob Belmaggio, and James McDonald.
In the invitational the boys finished 4th place out of 14 teams with 50 team points and the girls finished 13th out of 15 teams with 12 points.
The next event for Covington is the league meet in the TRC on May 14th and 16th.
