COVINGTON – The Covington Lady Buccs captured a 52-48 victory over Fairlawn in the season opener on Saturday.

Covington fell behind in the first period 14-10, but tie the game at the half 21-21. The Lady Buccs then took a seven-point lead 37-30 at the end of the third and held on down the stretch for the four-point victory, 52-48.

Seniors Avery Koffer and Delaney Murphy ignited the offense by combining for 35 of the 52 points on the board. Koffer led the Lady Buccs with game-high 18 points and Murphy scored 17 points.

Covington (1-0) plays at Piqua on Monday.
