SIDNEY – The Covington Lady Buccs have some fight in them, which has been evident even through some tough games early in the season.
Coming off of an overtime loss to Milton-Union, the Lady Buccs were able to stay focused on the task at hand and the end result was a convincing 41-28 win at Lehman.
The Lady Buccs played consistent basketball in each of the four periods and used a balanced attack to get themselves back on track.
And it was big shots from the outside that got Covington going as the Lady Buccs made six three-pointers in the first half to spark a 21-13 lead at the break. Gracie Anderson and Maggie Anderson each knocked down a trey in the third to ignite a 31-21 lead heading into the final frame.
With the lead, the Lady Buccs took advantage by controlling the clock in the final frame. Maggie Anderson scored five of her team-high 11 points in the final period, while Carlie Besecker hit a bucket and a pair of free throws to help seal the victory.
Freshman Avery Koffer had yet another solid game as she scored 10 points, while Gracie Anderson dropped in nine points. Both connected on three treys each.
The win improves Covington’s record to 6-3 overall and 4-2 in the TRC. Next up is a huge showdown with Miami East next Saturday.
