DEGRAFF – Covington improved its record to 10-2 overall and 6-0 in the TRC with a 52-37 win over Riverside on Saturday.
Even though Riverside has only been able to capture one win in the TRC at this point of the season, the game wasn’t easy for Covington as the Lady Pirates hung close throughout much of the game.
Both teams were tied at 13-13 at the end of the first and Covington was eventually able to take a 29-24 lead at the break.
Covington’s defense turned things around in the second half by holding Riverside to just 13 points throughout the rest of the game. The biggest impact came in the third quarter as Covington outscored Riverside 12-3.
Offensively, the Lady Buccs had balanced scoring as seven players scored points, three of them scoring double digits.
Avery Koffer led Covington with 11 points, while Maggie Anderson and Emalyn Johnson both scored 10 points.
After capturing their sixth straight win, the Lady Buccs look to keep the momentum going next Monday against Troy.
