TROY – The Covington Lady Buccs torched the net early against Troy Christian, which led to a convincing 57-25 victory to improve their record to 11-2 overall and 6-0 in the TRC.
Things couldn’t have materialized any better for Covington as the Lady Buccs built a 25-3 lead after one quarter of play due to extremely hot shooting. Throughout the entire first frame the Lady Buccs only missed two shot attempts, both coming on fouls by Troy Christian that led to four successful free throws.
The Lady Buccs continued their accurate shooting in the second period by making all but four shots in the period. This led to a 41-12 lead at the break.
The second half wasn’t as productive, but Covington was able to outscore Troy Christian 16-13 over the remainder of the game.
Covington had four players reach double digits in scoring with Carlie Besecker leading the way with a game-high 14 points. Maggie Anderson finished with 13 points, while Delaney Murphy had 11 and Avery Koffer scored 10.
The Lady Buccs host Riverside on Saturday at 6:00pm.
