
CASSTOWN – Covington boys and girls track teams competed at Miami East on Thursday evening and both finished seventh.
The highlight of the night was Elyza Long’s 3200 meter race, which she won by over 40 seconds. She smashed the meet record and also set a new school record by running 11:11.31. Other placers for the girls included the 4×100 relay, 4×200 relay, and the 4×400 relay. Hannah Alexander placed 2nd in both the shot put and discus. Makayla Vanderhorst placed 8th in the pole vault.
The boys team was led by Day’Lynn Garrett. He placed first in the 110H, 300H, 2nd in the long jump, and was a part of the 4×100 relay team that placed 5th. Preston King was first in the high jump and Beck Wilson placed 3rd in the 3200 meter run. The 4×100, 4×200 and the 4×400 teams all placed as well.
