COVINGTON – The girls track team finished first with 97.20 team points and the boys finished third with 73 team points in the Covington Invitational where 16 schools competed on Friday.
The girls had three athletes win their events. Elyza Long won the 1600 with a time of 5:32.79, Carlie Besecker in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:01.06 and Johanna Welborn in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:30.03.
Finishing second for the girls were the 4×800 relay team consisting of Ramse Vanderhorst, Johanna Welborn, Bell Welch, Kassidy Turner in the time of 10:37.22, Carlie Besecker in 100 Meter Dash with the time of 13.19 and the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.06, and Elyza Long in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:31.39.
The boys had two athletes win their events as well. Asher Long won the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:25.57 and the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:08.54, while Day’Lynn Garrett won the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 41.01.
The boys also finished second in two events – Day’Lynn Garrett in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.88 and Beck Wilson in the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:36.88.
