PIQUA – The Covington Buccaneers responded from their worst team score of 189 yesterday (Monday) by tying their best score of the season in a victory over Bethel 159-189.
“Yesterday we shot our season worst round of 189,” said Covington coach Bill Wise of the non-league trig-match with Newton and Miami East. “We needed a good bounce back round before our league tournament on Thursday.”
And Covington came through in grand fashion as three golfers finished in 39 strokes – just three stroke over par 36 – Sam Grabeman, Bryson Hite and Matt Dieperink. Connor Humphrey had a solid day with a 42, while Hunter Ray carded a 44 and Cameron Haines finished with a 46.
The Buccaneers look to keep the momentum rolling on Thursday in the TRC Championships.
