GREENVILLE – The Covington Buccaneers had a great day in the sectional tournament at Turtle Creek Golf Course in Greenville on Monday by finishing second as a team.

Despite the poor weather conditions, senior Matt Dieperink won the tournament by recording a score of 70 strokes in 18 holes, which was eight strokes better than anyone else in the tournament. His 70 strokes in 18 holes ties the school record established by Erik Ganger in 1998. Dieperink’s name is now in both individual records as he recorded 30 stokes in nine holes last season.

The Buccaneers as team tallied a score of 342, which was three strokes behind National Trail.

Also contributing to the team was Brodie Manson, who finished 7th in the tournament with 82 strokes. Jayden Wackler finished 15th with 88 strokes, Brairen Denson 38th with 102 strokes and Caleb Smith 52nd with 111 strokes.
