
DEGRAFF – Covington pulled away in an impressive second half to capture a 61-38 victory over Riverside on Thursday.
The Lady Buccs trailed 26-24 at the break, but took over the momentum in the third period by outscoring Riverside 23-10 to take a 47-36 lead heading into the final frame.
Covington then dominated the fourth quarter by playing outstanding defense that held Riverside to just two points. Offensively, Covington closed out the game with 14 points in the final period to pull out the 23-point victory.
It was a complete team-effort game as seven Lady Buccs scored and four of them reached double-digits. Delaney Murphy led Covington with a game-high 16 points, while Emma Havenar had 11 points and two more Lady Buccs tallied 10 points each, Avery Koffer and Emalyn Johnson.
Covington is now 8-13 on the season and 5-9 in the TRC with one more game to close out the regular season at home against Newton on Saturday, January 14th.
