DAYTON – The Covington Buccaneers had a strong offensive night by defeating Northridge 22-12 in five innings on Friday.

Caiden Hollingsworth put on a strong performance as he collected three hits in three at bats. Hollingsworth singled in the first singled and twice in the third inning.

Bats blistered as Covington collected 10 hits and Northridge tallied 11 in the high scoring game where 34 runs were scored.

Covington was the first to get on the board in the first when Tanner Palsgrove drew a walk, scoring one run. The Buccs scored eight runs on one hit in the top of the second inning. Ashton Skaggs drew a walk, scoring one run, Caiden Hollingsworth was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Kian French drew a walk, scoring one run, Tanner Palsgrove was stuck bv a pitch, driving in a run. Tyler Palsgrove drew a walk, scoring one run, Garrett Leistner hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Christian Skaggs singled to score two runs.

The Buccs scored seven runs on four hits in the top of the third inning. Tanner Palsgrove doubled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, Iyler Jay hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Caiden Hollingsworth singled, scoring three runs.

After Northridge scored six runs in the bottom of the third, Covington scored five runs on two hits in the top of the fifth inning, Caiden Hollingsworth drew a walk, scoring one run, Kian French singled, scoring two runs, Tyler Palsgrove singled, scoring one run. and a steal of home scored one run.

Ashton Skaggs earned the win for the Buccs. The hurler allowed eight hits and eight runs (two unearned) over three innings, striking out six and walking three. Tanner Palsgrove appeared in relief on the mound for the Buccs.

Covington accumulated 10 hits in the game and piled up 16 walks by being patient at the plate.

The Buccaneers are bow 5-5 overall and 4-3 in the TRC.
