THE BUCCS COME UP SHORT AGAINST NEW BREMEN

NEW BREMEN – Covington’s effort to come back from down five runs in the fifth inning came up just short, as they fell 5-4 to New Bremen on Monday.

The Buccs closed the gap by scoring on a single, a double, and a single, but lost despite out-hitting New Bremen 10 to six.

Brairen Denson led Covington with three hits.

Caleb Smith took the loss for Covington on the mound. The starting pitcher went six innings, giving up five runs on six hits, striking out four and walking two.

Covington amassed 10 hits in the game with Brairen Denson driving the middle of the lineup, leading Covington with two runs batted in. The infielder went 3-for-4 on the day. Tyler Jay collected two hits for Covington in four at bats.

Defensively, Covington turned one double play in the game.

Covington is now 6-7 so far this season and hosts Northridge on Tuesday for their next game.
