WEST MILTON – In what was a very tight game from start to finish, the Covington Buccaneers were able to score a game winning run in the top of the seventh for a 1-0 win over Milton-Union.

Neither team managed to score through the first six innings due to outstanding pitching and defense.

Fortunately, the Buccaneers snatched the lead late in the top of the seventh inning as Tyler Jay connected on a sacrifice fly to put a runner across the plate.

Both teams were strong on the bump.

Covington’s pitcher, Tyler Jay, went the distance and struck out seven batters. He only allowed five hits throughout the entire game. Milton-Union’s pitcher, Karson Stone, took the loss despite pitching well throughout seven innings. He gave up one run on four hits, striking out four and walking four.

Brairen Denson, Tyler Jay, Christian Skaggs, and Tyler Palsgrove each collected one hit for the Buccs. Tyler Jay went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in.

Covington didn’t commit a single error in the field. Kian French had the most chances in the field with seven.

Covington improves to 8-7 overall and 7-4 in the TRC. The Buccs play at home on Friday against Lehman in their next game.
