PIQUA – The Covington boys and girls track programs had several athletes advance to regionals, while the girls finished third as a team and the boys finished sixth in the Division III District at Piqua.
The Lady Buccs advanced to regional in six events led by Carlie Besecker, who won the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.87 and 400 meter dash with a time of 59.73. Elyza Long finished runner-up in the 3220 meter run with a time of 12:10.52 and Johanna Welborn finished third in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:23.39.
The 4×800 meter relay team of Elyza Long, Ramse Vanderhorst, Carlie Besecker and Johanna Welborn finished second in with a time of 9:59.23, while the 4×400 meter relay team of Lilian Mumford, Ramse Vanderhorst, Johanna Welborn and Elyza Long finished fourth with a time of 4:21.50.
The boys advanced to regionals in four events as Asher Long won the 3200 meter run with a time of 9:37.43 and Day’Lynn Garrett won the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 41.11. Preston King advanced by placing third in the high jump with a eighth of 6-04.00 and the 4×800 meter relay team of Asher Long, Austin Monnin, Chris Deaton and Beck Wilson advanced by placing fourth with a time of 8:31.71.
