ELYZA LONG WINS MIAMI COUNTY INVITATIONAL

WEST MILTON – The Covington.boys and girls cross country teams competed in the Miami County Invitational on Saturday and the highlight of the event for the Buccaneers was senior Eliza Long winning the 5000 meters race.

The girls finished fifth as a team with a score of 117, while the boys finished 8th with a score of 201.

Long burst her way ahead of everyone else in the race as she finished in a time of 19:34.9, which was way ahead of the runner-up finisher who ran the time of 20:11.3.

Kassidy Turner finished 15th in the race with a time of 22:15.8, while Lucy Welborn finished 27th with a time of 23:33.5 and Bella Welch finished 33rd with a time of 24:00.9..

The highest performer for the boys was Preston King, who finished 24th with a time of 18:31.4. Freshman Zaiden Moroney finished 53rd with a time of 19:51.6, while Henry Skaggs finished 58th with a time of 20:11.5 and Kent Welborn finished 65th with a time of 20:23.8.
