DAYTON – The Covington Buccaneers continue their early season hit streak by defeating Northridge 11-0 in five innings to improve to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the TRC.

The Buccs started out fast and didn’t let up as they scored 3 in the first, 2 in the second, 2 in the third, 3 in the fourth and one in the fifth.

Covington racked up 10 hits and didn’t commit any errors in the field.

Ashton Skaggs was stellar on the mound for the Buccs as he went the distance and allowed just three hits and two walks. Skaggs struck out five batters as well.

Covington opened the first with a single by Jacob Tipps that scored Tyler Jay and Tanner Palsgrove. Tipps then scored on wild pitch to put the Buccs up 3-0

In the second, Tyler Jay singled to score Michael Hagan and Tipps followed with an RBI single to score Jay.

Covington pushed its lead to 7-0 with two runs in the top of the third. Hagan drove in Connor Humphrey on a fielder’s choice and Grant Blore scored on wild pitch.

In the fourth Connor Humphrey singled to score Carter Owens and Blore doubled to deep left to score Humphrey. Blore then scored when Northridge tried to throw out Michael Hagan at second.
