DEGRAFF – The Covington Buccaneers dropped a very close game at Riverside by the score of 63-60, which drops their record to 8-12 overall and 3-9 in the TRC.

Covington lite up the scoreboard at the offensive end with balanced scoring, but so did Riverside. What hurt the Buccs were the 11 three-pointers knocked down by the Pirates – six by Gavin Osborne, who scored a game-high 22 points.

The Buccaneers shot well by making 15 two-point buckets and six treys, plus 10 of 17 free throws.

Covington built a 17-15 lead after one and pushed its lead to 33-28 at the break, but Riverside was able to tie the score 50-50 at the end of the third period by outscoring the Buccs 22-17 in the frame.

This put the game in crunch time in the final period where Riverside was able to get to the free throw line down the stretch for the win.

Britton Miller led the Buccs with 21 points and Bryson Hite scored 17 points.

Next up for the Buccs is another big game at home against rival Miami East on Tuesday.
