Covington junior Asher Long made his second straight trip to the state cross country meet on Saturday and in the process earned his second straight All-Ohio status by finishing 18th in the state at Fortress Obetz.
Last season, as a sophomore, Long finished 25th with a time of 16:25.6. This year, running in heavy winds, Long finished 18th at state with a time of 16:26.3.
Asher is the 18th runner in Buccaneer history to compete at the state meet. He also joins Ron Leach (1969, 1970), Gale Long (1970, 1971, 1972), Scott Fisher (1982, 1983, 1984) and Ryan Stover (1985, 1986, 1987, 1988) as one of five multiple state qualifiers in Covington boys history.
