BUCCS SHOOT DOWN FAIRLAWN

SIDNEY – It was a close, back-and-forth battle for the Buccaneers at Fairlawn on Saturday, but Covington was able use a big fourth period to pull away for a 57-42 win.

Covington led 13-12 after one, but Fairlawn was able to tie the score at 22-22 at the break. The Buccaneers held a one point advantage at the end of the third, 37-36, and then two big three-pointers by Bryson Hite ignited the Buccs to a 20-6 scoring advantage down the stretch.

The Buccaneers also came up big at the free throw line in the fourth by knocking down 14 of 21 attempts. Overall, the Buccs made 19 of 29 free throw attempts, which was a huge difference in the game as Fairlawn made just two of six attempts.

Seven Buccaneers scored on the night with Britton Miller scoring a game-high 16 points to lead the charge. Brogen Angle scored 13 points and Bryson Hite finished with 12 points.

The win pushes Covington’s overall record top 3-8 as the Buccs host Miami East on Tuesday.
