
DEGRAFF – Covington’s varsity volleyball team opened the 2026 league schedule with an important victory over Riverside in four sets.
Riverside open the contest by handing the Lady Buccs a loss 21-25 in the first set, but the Lady Buccs rebounded quickly by gaining momentum with 25-19 and 25-15 wins in the second and third sets.
The hosted Riverside team kept battling hard, which made the fourth sets so close. Fortunately the Lady Buccs were able to close out the match with a 29-27 win.
“Riverside was a really consistent team and challenged our ability to stay low-error.,” commented coach Sloane Green. “Everyone contributed at some point. Really great fight in the last set, I’m proud of how the team was resilient throughout the match with some changes to the lineup and in stressful moments in the game.”
The Lady Buccs JV team lost both sets 25-13 and 25-12.
Covington is now 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the TRC with a huge contest scheduled at home against Miami East on Thursday.
