COVINGTON – The Board of Education announced the hiring of a new Superintendent for Covington Exempted Village Schools, Dr. Katina Childers.

Katina Childers will begin her Superintendent position in Covington on Saturday, August 1 as she will finish her time as a High School Principal at Dixie High School, where she started in 2022. The information on her impact at Dixie was how she demonstrated a strong commitment to student achievements, instructional excellence, and building positive school cultures.

Covington’s Board President, Kerry Murphy, commented on the selection of Dr. Katina Childers as the new Superintendent.

“The Board of Education is excited to welcome Dr. Childers to Covington,” Murphy said. “Throughout the search process, she demonstrated a strong commitment to students, staff, and community engagement. Her leadership experience, passion for education, and focus on academic excellence make her an outstanding choice to lead our district into the future. We look forward to working with her to continue building on Covington’s tradition of success.”

Childers plans on meeting students, staff and community members to learn more about the traditions in the Covington Schools. The Village of Covington is a small town and the school is fortunate having so many community members and community organizations give so much to help the students, athletics and the school have success.
