COVINGTON – The Covington Buccaneers defeated Riverside 10-3 to record their second straight victory to improve their record to 5-7 overall and 4-3 in the TRC.

One of the key contributors to the success for the Buccaneers was sophomore hurler Hunter McMillion as he pitched throughout the entire game. Overall, McMillion struck out 11 batters and surrendered just five hits and three runs over seven innings while walking two.

Covington got on the board in the bottom of the second inning with two runs after Riverside Pirates committed an error, and Gunner Uderman doubled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

Unfortunately, Riverside tied the game in the top of the third thanks to a hit by a pitch and a wild pitch.

In the bottom of the third, Covington broke up the tie when Brairen Denson tripled, scoring one run. Then a single by Caiden Hollingsworth followed to extend the lead to 4-2.

The Buccaneers broke the game open over the next three innings as they score two runs in the fourth, two in the fifth and two more in the sixth to take a 10-2 lead.

Riverside did score one more run in the top of the seventh inning, but the Buccaneers secure the seven-point win.

Covington accumulated nine hits in the game. Gunner Uderman led the Buccs with two runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Gunner Uderman, Brairen Denson, and Caiden Hollingsworth each collected two hits for Covington. One of the biggest hits was a triple by Brairen Denson.

Defensively, the Buccs turned one double play in the game and only committed one error.
