
NORTHMONT – The Covington Lady Buccs suffered an unfortunate loss 16-12 to Northmont, primarily due to committing six errors and allowing 16 hits.
Covington jumped out in style by scoring five runs in the top of the first, but Northmont took a 10-5 lead by the end of the second inning by scoring two runs in the bottom of the first and eight runs in the second inning.
The Lady Buccs battled back by scoring three runs in the fourth inning, but fell behind 16-8 as Northmont scored a run in the fifth and five more in the sixth inning.
Covington continued to battle hard by scoring four more runs in the top of the seventh, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the self inflicted adversity.
Overall, the Lady Buccs outhit Northmont with 17 hits to 16. Unfortunately, the six errors prevented the Lady Buccs from capturing another victory.
Offensively, Elizabeth Coblentz had another huge day as she went 3-for-3 with a home run and drove in two runs.
The Lady Buccs fall to 6-5 at this point of the season and will face Bradford on Monday.
