LADY BUCCS WIN TRC MEET, BOYS FINISH FOURTH

CASSTOWN – The Covington girls track team won the Three Rivers Conference Championship at Miami East High School with 156 team points, while the boys finished fourth with 108.50 team points.

The girls won seven events in the TRC beginning with the 4×800 meter relay with the time of 10:07.33 with the runners consisting of Elyza Long, Kassidy Turner, Ramse Vanderhorst and Johanna Welborn, which set a new meet record. Elyza Long also won the 3200 meter run (12:07.13) and the 1600 meter run (5:29.78) – both meet records, while Carlie Besecker also won three events in the 100 meter dash (12.75), the 200 meter dash (27.46) and the 400 meter dash (1:01.17).

Also winning a league title for the girls was Hannah Alexander in the shot put with a distance of 31-8.75.

Finishing runner-up for the girls in individual events were Johanna Welborn in the 1600 meter run (5:40.62), Elyza Long in the 800 meter run (2:28.14) and the 4×200 meter relay team of Serenity Weaver, Kylie Brown, Greer Wilson, Lilian Mumford with a time of 1:57.92.

The boys won four events in the TRC as Asher Long won the 3200 meter run (9:36.49) and the 1600m meter run (4:26.46) – both new meet records, while Day’Lynn Garrett won the 100 meter hurdles (15.87) and the 300 meter hurdles (42.59). Day’Lynn’s time in the 110 meter hurdles also broke the meet record.

Finishing runner-up for the boys were Preston King in the high jump (5-10), Asher Long in the 800 meter run (2:03.62) and the 4×800 meter relay team of Asher Long, Beck Wilson, Chris Deaton and Austin Monnin in the time of 8:35.69.
