
DEGRAFF – A game that was rescheduled due to weather went the way the Covington Lady Buccs needed as they run-ruled a talented Riverside team 14-3 in five innings.
The Lady Buccs scored runs in all but one inning with two innings compiling 12 runs – five runs in the second and seven runs in the fourth.
Covington outhit Riverside 14 to 7 and connected on two home runs and a double. The home runs were connected by Jayda McClure, who hit a grand slam, and Kylie Palsgrove. McClure now has 7 home runs this season and Palsgrove has 6. Overall, the Lady Buccs have combined 25 home runs so far this season.
Whitney Burns picked up her seventh win this season as she only allowed six hits and two runs. She struck out three batters and only walked one.
Cassidy Iddings closed out the game in the fifth inning.
The Lady Buccs are now 10-2 overall and 4-1 in the TRC. Next is an another critical league contest at Milton-Union tomorrow.
