
DEGRAFF – Covington suffered a one-point loss for the second time this season against Riverside as the Lady Pirates defeated the Lady Buccs 5-4 in a makeup game.
The first loss to Riverside happened nearly one month ago by the score of 7-6.
Riverside built a 3-0 lead by scoring a run in the second and two more in the fourth and held the Lady Buccs scoreless through five innings. Fortunately, the Lady Buccs had a big inning in the sixth by score four runs to take a 4-3 lead.
Unfortunately for Covington, Riverside was able to score two runs in the bottom of the seventh to hand the Lady Buccs their fifth loss in the TRC.
Covington is now 16-9 overall and 7-5 in the league to close out the regular season.
The Lady Buccs open the postseason tomorrow (Wednesday) at home against Springfield Catholic Central.
