COVINGTON – For the second time this season the Covington Lady Buccs fell to Miami East due to unfortunate miscues with Tuesday’s defeat being at the score of 12-6.

What ultimately prevented Covington from putting itself in position to capture the win was a devestaing sixth inning.

Covington started off with a 2-0 lead in the first inning with a home run by Emalyn Johnson, but Miami East was able to tie the score at 2-2 in the second inning.

The Lady Vikings then took advantage of an error by Covington with two outs in the top of the third inning by scoring two runs to take a 4-2 lead. Fortunately, the Lady Buccs tied the game at 4-4 with two runs in the fifth inning.

Unfortunately, the Lady Buccs made several mistakes in errors, walks and passed balls in the sixth inning that gave Miami East so many extra at bats at the plate. The Vikings took advantage by scoring eight runs in the inning to take a 12-4 lead.

The Lady Buccs tried to battle back as Emalyn Johnson drilled her second home run of the game for two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, but the scoring deficit was too much to overcome.

The loss drops Covington to 16-3 overall and 7-2 in the TRC with the two losses coming against Miami East.

The Lady Buccs travel to Tri-Village on Friday in a non-conference game.
