COVINGTON – The Covington Lady Buccs defeated Lehman Catholic in three sets to improve their record in the TRC at 12-0, which locks up at least a share of the league title with two league games left.
If the Lady Buccs defeat Riverside next Tuesday in the final home game, they will secure an outright league championship, which is the first for the program since 2008.
The victory against Lehman was extremely impressive, especially with the performance in the first two sets as Covington won 25-16 and 25-10. Lehman picked up its performance to a higher level in the third set, but the Lady Buccs were able to escape with a 27-25 win for the three-set sweep.
“The defense we played tonight, it was great,” said Covington coach Stephanie Robinson.”Ava Hartwig had a really good night too.”
Covington’s overall record is now 15-4 and the next matchup is a non-conference game against neighboring rival Bradford on Monday.
