RUSSIA – The Covington Lady Buccs put forth their best performance so far in this 2025 season in a five-set victory over a very talented team, Russia.

What made this victory so much impressive was the fact that the Lady Buccs captured a very important victory despite having one of their best players off the floor, senior Hollan Koffer.

Still, Covington won the opening set 25-19, but then found themselves into a very difficult situation over the next two sets as Russia won 25-9 and then 25-19 to take a 2-1 lead.

The competitive mentality of the Lady Buccs was on display in the fourth set as they remained focused on executing the team’s game plan. This led to a narrow 25-22 victory to tie the match at 2-2 and the victory extended the contest into the fifth and final set.

Covington’s enthusiasm and momentum carried out through the final set in what was another tight score from start to finish and the Lady Buccs were able to hold on for a 15-11 victory to close out the match with a 3-2 victory.

What made the impact of success in this game against another great team was the outstanding effort provide by each one of the Lady Buccs’ players on the floor. Each and every one of them played extremely well throughout the majority of the contest.

“I’m very proud of the way the girls played as a team throughout the entire match,” said Covington coach Stephanie Robinson. “Our girls battled and played hard throughout the entire match. It a very exciting match.”

The win improves Covington’s overall record to 7-2 and next up is a critical TRC matchup at home against Lehman next Tuesday.
