PIQUA – The Covington girls golf team put together a strong performance on Thursday in a head-to-head matchup with Miami East and came out on top winning by eight strokes, 235-243.

Calleigh Edgell led the charge for Covington by finishing with the top performance of 53 strokes on the 36 par course at Echo Hills.

Bella Batdorf, who overcame some really tough situations, finished with the third best score of 55 strokes, one stroke behind a very talented Miami East golfer, Sophie Minnich.

Allison Burns finished with 60 strokes and Emma Ouellette, who is golfing in her first season, finished with 67 strokes.

Covington has improved dramatically over the course of the season and won its first TRC matchup due to their work ethic.

The Lady Buccs will complete against Milton-Union on Monday, who is the top team in the TRC. Win or lose, Covington is heading in the right direction in improvement on the golf course.
