COVINGTON – The Covington Lady Buccs defeated Jackson Center in four sets 25-21, 22-25, 25-17 and 25-17 for the first win of the season.
“They played at a higher level than they played in the first two games,” said Covington coach Stephanie Robinson. “They showed a lot of hustle and a lot of heart. We were able to make some key adjustments throughout the match.”
Dakohta Kenworthy led the Lady Buccs with 14 kills and Ava Hartwig had a huge impact at the net with 5 blocks.
Ramse Vanderhorst was all over the floor throughout the entire contest, which led to 35 digs.
Also, Taylor Kirker and Addison Ventura had a huge impact in every aspect of the game. Kirker tallied 3 aces, 21 assists, 8 kills, 16 digs and 2 blocks, while Ventura had 2 aces, 13 assists, 9 kills, 17 digs and 3 blocks.
The junior varsity team lost in three sets; 25-19, 17-25 and 22-25.
Covington is now 1-2 overall and will open up the TRC contests at Troy Christian tomorrow evening.
