
COVINGTON – The Covington Lady Buccs closed out the regular season with a loss to Miami East.
Entering the game, Covington had a golden opportunity at home to earn a share of the league title if a victory would have happened against Miami East.
Unfortunately, the Lady Buccs were overwhelmed by Miami East in three straight sets.
The tone of the match was set in the first set as Miami East dominated by the score of 25-9.
Covington responded in the second set by building an early lead 9-6. The set went back-and-forth until Miami East pulled away down the stretch to claim a 25-21 to take a 2-0 lead.
The Lady Vikings sealed the TRC Championship in the third set by defeating Covington 25-18.
Overall, Miami East finished the regular season with 20-2 record and went undefeated in the TRC at 14-0.
Covington finished its regular season record 17-5 overall and 12-2 in the league – both defeated coming against Miami East.
The highlight of evening for Covington was the victory captured by the junior varsity team against Miami East. Miami East won the first set 25-15, but Covington the second set 25-21 and the third set 29-27.
The Lady Buccs open up the post-season tournament on Tuesday, October 14th at 6:00pm against Miami Valley at Kettering Fairmont.
