BRANDT – On a chilly evening due to the weather, the Lady Buccs were able to stay focus and execute very well in a dominating 16-0 win over Bethel in five innings.

Covington scored in the first four innings with the most nine runs coming in the third inning. This put Bethel into a situation that was nearly impossible to overcome due to the outstanding pitching by Whitney Burns as she only allowed just one hit throughout the game. She also struck out nine batters and only walked one.

Ava Hartwig pitched in a part of the final inning, which was her first experience in the circle throughout her high school career. She only walked one batter and closed out the game with a critical out.

Offensively, Covington outhit Bethel 14 to 1 with Emalyn Johnson and Taylor Foutz leading the way by both going 4-for-4 throughout the game. Emalyn connected on a grand slam home run, two doubles and tallied 7 RBIs, while Foutz hit a double and 3 RBIs.

Additional powerful hits were a home run by Kylie Palsgrove, a triple by Ava Hartwig and a double by Jayda McClure.

Covington improves its record to 9-2 overall and 3-1 in the TRC. Next is a road game at Riverside on Thursday.
