SIDNEY – The Covington Lady Buccs run-ruled Lehman Catholic 18-5 in six innings on Friday to improve their record to 6-4 overall and 3-1 in the TRC.

The victory was important due to the short time the Lady Buccs had to regroup after suffering a heartbreaking loss one night ago, which was 8-6 to Milton-Union in ten innings.

Covington started the game strong by scoring six runs in the top of the first, but struggled to break the game away over the following three innings as only one more ru n went across the plate.

Things changed dramatically in the fifth inning as the Lady Buccs scored five more runs and then they put the game away with six more runs in the top of the sixth.

Jayda McClure pitched well for Covington as she only allowed six hits and struck out four batters.

McClure also had a huge day at the plate by going 2-for-2 with a home run, while Elizabeth Coblentz and Emalyn Johnson also connected on home runs as well.

Overall, Covington tallied 17 hits and committed just one fielding error.

The Lady Buccs travel to face Bradford on Monday.
