COVINGTON – Jayda McClure, a 2026 senior in Covington who is close to graduating, committed to extend her softball career at Edison Community College.

“I was offered an opportunity to play softball at Edison and that pretty much made me decide to go there,” explained Jayda McClure. “My goal in softball is to make more memories and enjoy the college softball experience.”

Fittingly, Jayda’s decision to extend her softball career at Edison is an ideal situation for her parents, Jeremy and Carrie McClure, and her grandparents, Jeff and Connie Angle. The location will allow them to be able to continue watching her play. They all have supported her throughout her entire softball career.

Academically, Jayda already has college credit, which sets herself up into a situation where she doesn’t have to take so many classes. Her primary focus is increasing herself into a very high level hair specialist.

“I’m not sure yet on my major, but I am a hair stylist and have my hair license already,” she said. “My goal is to extend more into that.”

At Edison, her new coach will be Miranda Huddle, who started as the Chargers’ head coach in 2024 after being an assistant head coach at Miami East High School for three years where the team advanced to the state final four in 2022.

Jayda has played softball over the past 13 years and had a huge impact from several coaches and her athletic training facility.

“I went to No Name Athletics for training and my high school coaches, Brooke Gostomsky-Menker and Dan Cain helped me a lot,” said Jayda. “Plus, Morgan McReynolds (Fulkner) and her dad (Don McReynolds) helped me a lot in the Stillwater Sharks travel ball program. I appreciate all of them.”

Throughout her high school softball career, which she still has a significant amount of games left in her senior season, Jayda has already established herself as an elite player. So far throughout her career she has recorded 105 hits, 115 runs, 97 RBIs, 27 doubles, 8 triples and 21 home runs. Her batting average is an impressive .434.

Also, McClure has helped the Lady Buccs reach the regional final in 2023, the district final in 2024 and the state semi-final in 2025. This year, as a senior, McClure is batting .510 with 36 runs, 26 hits, 35 RBIs, 7 doubles, 3 triples and 8 home runs. Her team is now 13-2.

After committing to extend her softball career at Edison, Jayda gave praise to God.

“I want to give all the Glory to God for giving me the ability to play the sport I love. I would not be where I am today without him and thank you to everyone who supports me throughout my softball career. AO1.”
