Paul Lee Drees graduated at Covington High School in 1938 and served in the United States Army after a written request to President Franklin D. Roosevelt asking to serve when he was classified 4-F. Sargent Drees was a World War II Veteran in the 462 Base Unit A.A.F. and his older bother, George Ephraim Drees, also served in World War II and died in the Battle of the Bulge in Luxembourg, Belgium in 1944.

Paul was born in Covington, Ohio on May 26, 1920 and passed away on April 6, 1961 at the age of 40 following an unfortunate automobile accident. This Covington legend is rested in peace at Highland Cemetery in Covington, Ohio.

Paul is the son of Arthur Donald Drees and Blanche Cable (Mohler) Drees. His mother, Blanche, died in 1952 and his father, Arthur, died in 1961. Both of his parents were born in 1889.

Paul had two brothers, George Ephraim Drees, who was killed in World War II at the Battle of the Bulge in Luxembourg, Belgium in 1944 and a younger brother, Ned M. Drees, who was born in 1915 and lived for 92 years until 2007. He also had an older sister who was born on May 29, 1910 and passed away the same day she was born.
