COVINGTON – The annual homecoming ceremony took place on Friday at Smith Field where the school announced the king and queen on Smith Field prior to the football game against Milton-Union.

The entire Homecoming Court consists of Elyza Long, Maggie Anderson, Sophie Shaffer, Hannah Alexander, Jennifer Fisher, Tyler Jay, Brogen Angle, Garrett Leistner, Tanner Palsgrove and Christopher Deaton.

The king was announced first and it was Garrett Leistner, who is an outstanding football player for the Buccaneers. He also played in the sport of basketball.

The queen was announced shortly after, which was Elyza Long. Long is one of the elite long distance runners in the history of Covington. Elyza has set school records in cross country and has qualified for state in track and cross country.

The parade prior to the ceremony was also a memorable event as there were so many community members along the streets to witness Covington students taking part in the homecoming tradition.
