BUCCS ROLL OVER NORTH, 73-43

COVINGTON – The Covington Buccaneers ended a four-game skid with a dominating 73-43 victory over Tri-County North on Saturday at Covington High School.

The win boosts Covington’s record to 5-13 with three games left in the regular season.

The Buccaneers jumped out to a big lead early by outscoring North 29-7 in the opening frame. Bryson Hite scored 10 of his 12 points in the first, while Britton Miller connected on a layup and six free throws for 8 points and Tanner Palsgrove hist three buckets for 6 points. Mic Barhorst and Brogen Angle also contributed in the first period with a combined 6 points.

Covington kept the momentum rolling by outscoring the Panthers 16-11 in the second for a 45-21 lead at the break as six players contributed to the scoring effort.

The Buccaneers put the game away in the third as Brogen Angle dropped in four of his five three-pointers in the frame and scored on a runner as well. Tanner Palsgrove hit a trey and two free throws as well as Covington pushed its lead to 64-27 with 2:00 left in the third, which is when the Buccaneers pulled their starters from the floor.

Four Buccaneers scored in double figures with Brogen Angle leading the way with a game-high 19 points. Bryson Hite and Britton Miller scored 12 point a piece and Tanner Palsgrove tallied 13 points.

The highlight of the night was Covington’s performance at the free throw line, a part of the game the Buccs have struggled for much of the season. Tonight the Buccs converted on a season-best 21 of 23 free throw attempts.

Next up is a big conference game against Lehman on Tuesday.
